The Estevan Golden Eels Swim Club hit the pool on Tuesday night for the first time as a team in 2018.

61 swimmers will look to defend their Provincial title for the fourth straight year this summer. According to Eels Head Coach, Cassidy Reich, it's an exciting time for her and those involved with the program.

"This year we have quite a few new swimmers in the eight and under group, Reich explained. "In the past we have had a lot of returning families, so we're excited to see some new faces. Every year is different, hopefully we can just get right in the water and get going right away."

Each year, Reich looks forward to the growth of all swimmers, along with seeing the small or large successes they experience throughout the season.

"Our kids are amazing. They just work so hard and they're so driven, a lot of them love swimming, but they are working at other sports as well, so it's great to see. The bonds that you make with all of the swimmers. When they can do one thing they couldn't do yesterday or at the start of the season and they can do it now, it's good to see."

Estevan will also host the Provincial meet for the first time since 2004. The R.M. of Estevan Aquatic Centre will be a busy place come the end of July.

"It will be nice to bring it back home this year. Hopefully there is a lot of interest for people to come out and see what we do," Reich concluded.
