The Estevan Golden Eels Swim Club will host Summer Swimming Provincials on Saturday, July 28.

16 different clubs from across the province will make their way to the R.M. of Estevan Aquatic Centre, which will host over 300 athletes, competing in 140 events. The four-time defending provincial champion Eels have been hard at work in the pool preparing for a huge summer ahead.

"Estevan is thrilled to host the summer swimming provincial competition," Chair of the Provincial Committee, Tania Andrist said. "When Estevan hosted the 2016 Summer Games, that was the year we were suppose to host provincials so we got bumped a couple years later. Those Summer Games completely prepared us in terms of the facility and officials that we need."

Despite not hosting provincials since 2004, Andrist and everyone involved is confident and more than ready to showcase the city.

"We're deep intro preparation, the kids are in the water trying to improve their strokes," Andrist shared. "We are the reigning champions so we want to repeat that."

"We just need the community behind us. We're looking for excitement and energy because we think this is going to be an amazing event for the whole city. Just to see the people come and enjoy our city from across the province, we are ready."

The Eels will host their annual banquet and agm the night of the meet, which will also feature a dance for the kids.
