Weeks of preparation will be put to the test for the Estevan Junior Coaler Rollers this coming weekend in Brandon, Manitoba.

Sending two roller derby teams, Head Coach Lorelei Lachambre said this weekends tournament will be a perfect tune up for their annual home tournament later this month.

"We have our level 1-2 team which is our beginning skaters, and then we're taking our second team of our level 3 skaters, and those are older students in grade 8-11. We're hoping to come back with a couple of wins, we're super excited and it's our warm up for our home tournament."

"The ice came out, but it was still too cold for a few weeks after that," Lachambre said with a laugh. "We've been in there now for three weeks in the Bienfait rink, so we've have six practices ahead of our weekend in Brandon."

The Coaler Rollers 4th annual home tournament takes place over May 26-27 at the Bienfait rink which will feature teams from Brandon, Saskatoon, Regina and Calgary.

"Usually we just draw from Saskatchewan and Manitoba, this year it's awesome to draw someone from Alberta and see some growth."

The team is also planning on using the rink at kin-park in the near future for practices.
