A variety of hardware was handed out at the first annual awards ceremony for the Estevan Lacrosse.

Players, coaches, officials and volunteers were all recognized for their efforts in the sport.

Codie Lemcke took home the Female Player of the Year award, and shared some of what she thought earned her the nod.

"I tried to help everyone as best as I could, and encourage them to do better."

Lemcke said that she originally got involved in lacrosse after watching her brother at practice. She joined, and found it lived up to her expectations. She played in the bantam division this year, and is looking forward to joining the midgets in the coming season.

Cecile Seemann was handed the Harris Oilfield Volunteer of the Year award. She has been involved for the last five years since her son started playing, and has filled various roles such as floor scheduler, helping with registration, planning fundraising events and so forth.

"It was a huge surprise, I wasn't' expecting it at all."

She added that it is easier to volunteer when you have a kid in the program, as you are usually in attendance anyway.

For President Marc Seemann, he was happy to see his players take the game to the next level and succeed.

"It's always great when you get those hometown kids go to the provincial level or even the national level, go out there and have fun and represent Estevan."
