Two members of Estevan Lacrosse were recognized for their achievments and efforts during the Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association (SLA) awards banquet over the weekend in Saskatoon.

Bantam Voltz player Nathan Wagstaff received Most Valuable Player honors for his contribution to Team Sask at nationals earlier this year.

"It's pretty cool, I feel pretty special. I put a lot of work in and it's finally paid off, it's just a pretty great feeling," he said, crediting his coaches for a lot of his success, "Coaches help a ton. I've had so many amazing coaches that help me improve my game in so many different ways, they all teach me so much."

In glancing back at his time competing for a nation-wide championship, he noted that a couple personal highlights included his first goal of the tournament.

"I remember I was kind of nervous going into it, and then right when I got that goal it just kind of lifted everything off my shoulders. Then I made a pretty big hit, and I'll never forget that."

As for future ambitions, Wagstaff plans to carry on in the sport as far as it'll take him, including professionally. He shared one piece of advice to share with those following in his footsteps.

"You've got to work for your dreams, and you've got to put the time in and the effort to get better."

Meanwhile, Misty Hall was awarded the SLA's Volunteer of the Year for her efforts both for Estevan and for the South Sask Lacrosse League.

"I am very honored that they chose me as their recipient this year," she expressed, "With Estevan Lacrosse, I sit on the board as the secretary, take care of the clothing orders and help out wherever is needed. I've also taken a position on the South Sask Lacrosse board this year."

Hall added that her favorite part of volunteering is the time spent with the team, the kids and the parents, as well as the support from all involved.

Several other Estevan Lacrosse nominees included, Tianna Sieben for Female Athlete of the Year and Kaden Chrest for Minor Male Athlete of the Year.
