Local hockey rinks will be a buzz over the next few days with Estevan Minor Hockey hosting their Atom Tournament.

Although there are 14 teams entered in this weekends tournament, event organizers were forced to turn applicants away due to the closure of the Civic Auditorium.

"We had to turn teams down and some teams have to play in Bienfait which isn't a big deal, but some teams get upset when they come to Estevan to play and end up having to play a game or two in Bienfait," explained organizer Darren Pushie.

Three local teams including the Atom Estevan Warriors, Lightning and Sharks will be in action this weekend starting on Friday afternoon with the top eight playing on Sunday. With Estevan being down an ice surface, every team won't be on the ice for Sunday as originally planned.
