A previously thriving program in the Energy City could now be facing extinction. The Estevan Youth Soccer Association is looking at the possibility of shutting down indefinitely, unless they get the help that they need.

"Right now we require volunteers. We need some of the parents who have children enrolled in the program to step up. We're looking for coaches, committees, registration assiatance and age group coordination," explained Vice President Kevin Mortensen.

He expressed that the board would be there to support the volunteers, including through providing coaching clinics and assistance from those who previously held the positions.

"It's a hard fact, but if there is no parent involvement, there may not be youth soccer in Estevan moving forward in 2017."

Those interested in helping out are asked to email estevanyouthsoccer2017@gmail.com

"Somebody will answer your questions and concerns."

The deadline at which the go/no go decision will be made is April 10th.

"Hopefully we can move forward, get these kids on the field and grow the soccer program in Estevan," Mortensen said.
