Following the tragic death of 44-year-old Mike Sarada, the Bantam AA Estevan TS&M Bruins will honor and celebrate their long-time assistant coach.

On Sunday, February 11th, "Mike Sarada Memorial Day" will take place with a number of events planned, including a memorial game featuring a roster of Mike's former teammates, friends and family.

The day will also be used to raise funds in order to build the "Mike Sarada Athlete Education Centre", which will be used to purchase all the necessary technology and equipment to allow proper video analysis and teaching for athletes in Estevan Minor Hockey.

"Hockey Canada is really pushing the three methods of learning, one of them is visual and its a missing aspect of our plan here in Estevan," explained TS&M Bruins Head Coach, Tom Copeland. "Having a technology driven education centre where we can review video and provide video equipment to all teams in Estevan Minor Hockey is important for learning. It's something that's been recognized for a couple years by the higher level teams, I think it's something that would benefit all of our clubs if we can put it together."

Copeland pointed to the potential of a room like this to be a major benefit to Estevan Minor Hockey, while honoring a man who made a major impact on the hockey community in south east Saskatchewan.

"Our vision is to re-purpose a room within the facility that minor hockey already utilizes as a video technology and coaching centre type thing. Depending on how the weekend goes and what we raise for funds will dictate the scope of the project. With what we're about to do we would probably be some what on the leading edge as a minor hockey system to have one for all of it's members would be something that would be a little more unique. It would be a huge benefit now and into the future, having something like this in our back pocket will only help us," Copeland concluded.
