Opening night didn't go as planned for the Peewee AA Estevan Westmoreland Bruins, losing their fist game of the season 10-3 to the Weyburn Wings.

Weyburn came storming out of the gate to open the first period, scoring five goals on 13 shots for the 5-0 lead. Wings forward Ty Mason recorded a hat-trick.

Ty Hoste would get the Bruins on the board with a power-play marker to start the second period with assists from Kersey Hollingshead and Declyn Henderson. Ty Mason would score two more for Weyburn extending the Wings lead to 7-1, giving the youngster five goals on the night. Weyburn would make it 8-1 just before Estevan's Tate Kasick found the back of the net with the lone assist going to Emmett McCarthy. Weyburn would add one more before the end of the second to make it 9-2 Wings. Shots on goal in the period were tied 8-8.

Hollingshead would draw first blood in the third period for the Bruins, this time on the power-play from Ty Hoste and Sam George. Weyburn would add one more late in the third period to give the Wings a 10-3 win over the Bruins. The Wings out shot the Bruins 30-21.

The Bruins will have a few days off before returning to play at home on Saturday afternoon against the Moose Jaw Warriors. The puck drops on their home opener at 2:30.
