Seven skaters from the Estevan Bantam Bruins had their efforts noticed over the weekend at the Saskatchewan Hockey Association SaskFirst Bantam Regional camp over the weekend, out of eight that went.

Defenseman Alec Waldegger and Colby Durr, along with forwards Kaden Chrest, Colby Cuddington, James Mann, Mason Kukura and Mason Fichter cracked the South 80 roster for the first SHA SaskFirst tournament, to be held December 28-30 in Regina.

Following that tournament a top 80 will be selected again, to return in February.

"The boys did very well...they all played really well and looking at the sessions they were on, they certainly did fit in. It's quite exciting to have seven make it," stated Head Coach Blaine Chrest, "Unfortunately, the one that didn't make it was our goaltender (Jackson Miller), which we felt he maybe should have made it. But their evaluation system maybe wasn't quite what we expected for the goaltenders. There were large number there and the ones that weren't chosen were a little bit surprising."

"It's going to be good for them, because now they're going to be playing with the best from the south versus the top kids from the north. I would expect that they'll step their games up and compete very hard. We're hoping that a few of them get to move on to the final test."
