Preston Brodziak's hockey season recently came to a close with the Regina Pat Canadians. The seventeen year old from Estevan enjoyed a tremendous season individually and with his team.

The Regina Pat Canadians swept the Tisdale Trojans in 3 games to capture the SMAAAHL league title. That win got them a spot in the Telus Cup West Regional in Steinbach Manitoba, where Brodziak walked away with not only a win and a trip to the Telus Cup, but also earning MVP honors in the process as the top forward at regional's in Steinbach.

At Telus Cup in Prince George, the Pat Canadians lost a heart breaker in overtime of the semi final. Regina was winning with 2:59 left in the third when the St. Francois Blizzards tied the game. The Blizzards tipped one in with minutes remaining in overtime.

"We came out a little weak and weren't playing our game," said Broziak

Preston Brodziak looks on as his teammates celebrate their win at the Telus Cup West Regionals In Steinbach Manitoba.

"In the semi final it was anyone's game, Quebec scored and it hurt us a lot."

"Once we lost that semi final game, we were dwelling on it. It effected our game in the bronze medal."

 In the bronze medal game the Pat Canadians dropped a 4-1 decision to the Mississauga Rebels.

Although the tournament didn't quite turn out how Brodziak envisioned, the memories will last forever.                                                                              

"Individually, it was the best experience of my life. I'm just thankful I got to go, it was an unreal time."

 "It's one of my favorite hockey memories for sure, the competition was really good," Brodziak added.

A few weeks before the Canadians earned a trip to Telus Cup, the young forward from Estevan was rewarded for all of his hard work, getting listed with a team in the WHL.

"A couple of weeks ago I got listed with the Victoria Royals."

"It made me pretty happy, I've been working really hard for it."

Heading into the summer, Brodziak also talked about his plans moving forward.

"I'm going hit the gym pretty hard this summer and try to skate as much as I can."

"Where ever I can go to keep on the ice before next fall

As for his plans for next fall...

"I've got a few other options I have to think about, but I haven't made any decisions yet."
