The local Jiu-Jitsu Estevan Combat Sports And Fitness are heading off to Regina this weekend for one of the biggest tournaments of the year.

Tyson King From the Jiu Jitsu Estevan Combat Sports And Fitness explained what this sport exactly is.

"I just like to call in wrestling most of the time. For the most part, it is a form of self-defense. There is no punching or kicking like the martial arts you might think of. It's using your brain, physics, and biomechanics."

This weekend seven children will be on their way to Regina to compete as well as the coaches.

"The good thing about the class is that we really focus on that self-defense stuff like the schoolyard stuff and how to stay safe out there and look after yourself, keep your face looking pretty. Then the tournament is a chance to go up against all these other kids who are learning all the same stuff you are." said King.

After this tournament, they will be heading to Winnipeg Manitoba for a bigger two-day tournament.
