Kaiden Lyons of Kipling and the rest of Team Sask went undefeated in the round robin of the 15U Ray Carter Cup Championships, mercying almost every opponent until the final game.

There, they were overcome late to fall 3-2 to just miss the gold medal, and settle for silver.

"We scored in the first or second inning, and then we just shut them down for the rest though we didn't score. Then all of a sudden they started hitting the ball again. We made one error, and I think that was the run that got in to tie the game, then one big hit at the end that got the winning run in.," said Lyons, "It's still pretty good, second in Canada."

He added that the teams were 'well rounded' on both offence and defense, and he faced some strong competition.

"I only pitched a few innings, and that was good. I did what I needed to do, closed a few games. It was a much higher level, and everyone just blew me away as to how good everyone was."

There's no rest for the kid, however, as he heads straight for volleyball tryouts. When baseball season comes around once again, he'll be moving on from the Southeast A's at home to attempt to gain entrance to the Southeast Twins.
