For many race fans in Estevan, the sight of Ryley Raynard's orange, yellow, and black race car streaking around the dirt track is one of the most exciting parts of the entire experience. The young man with Muscular Dystrophy believes this is going to be his tenth year on the track, and some car modifications are causing some more causes towards his vehicle so that he can use full hand controls.

"I'm going to be going from using my left hand for my break and my right foot for the gas to using both with my right hand."

The modifications are going to cost around the $20,000, and because of that, some of his friends have put together a Go Fund Me page up to help him raise the funds, which you can support here:  Ryley's Raise Car

"It's going to be pretty much brand new with everything set up," said the 23-year-old racer. "Before I couldn't even press my ignition with my car and obviously I couldn't even use the foot controls anymore, so it's going to be fully set up and fully accessible for me. It'll be an awesome setup for me but we've never had anything like that."

Race season is set to start at the Estevan Motor Speedway on May 1st with all classes set to hit the track, which includes Raynard's Hobby Stocks. That means that the beginning of the project for Raynard would have to start fairly soon, especially if he planned on getting some practice in with the new setup, but he isn't too worried.

"We should be able to get it there. All we need to do is send in a deposit here shortly and then we would get put on a waiting list and they can do it within 4-6 weeks. They'd make the time for me to actually get it done before our race even."

When it comes to the cost of the vehicle moving forward, Raynard isn't too worried. Even though he is having to switch his vehicle up considerably to get back on the track for the new season, the thought of having to do future modifications to accommodate his lifestyle doesn't bother him one bit as long as he gets to race.

"I just want to continue living my dream."

Raynard starting racing when he was 14 years old, and will turn 24 this year in August, and hopefully celebrating a win during that month as there are races set for three of the four weekends in the month of August.
