Estevan water polo players Taeghen Hack, Emily Marshall and Cameron Gillingham competed in 16U Western National Championship League Water Polo finals this past weekend in Calgary. The weekend was full of exciting games.

"They were awesome games," said Mona Hack, the mother of Taeghen Hack and the coach of the Estevan Sharks. "The girls and the boys both ended up in shoot outs to go into the gold medal games. So that was really intense."

It came down to the final 14 seconds of play, but TeamSask girls came up with the win over the Calgary Renegades 11-10. The TeamSask boys also played in the gold medal game but lost, taking home the silver medal.

The Western Finals determined the teams which would move on to Nationals which are in Calgary on May 25-28.

"Both the TeamSask 16 and under girls and boys qualified for Nationals. Right now the girls are sitting in first place in the Western Division and the boys are sitting in second place in the Western Division," explained Hack. "Last year they both qualified as well for Nationals. They played in Montreal and the girls won silver last year and the boys won gold."
