Bruins fans were treated to yet another display of offensive dynamite on Friday night, as their Highway 39 rivals, the Weyburn Red Wings, were humbled in front of quite a few of their own fans in Affinity Place.

Recently returned from a strong showing in the SJHL showcase, Right Winger Michael McChesney still had the flames burning as he opened the scoreboard for Estevan on a power play, assisted by Johnny Witzke and Zach Goberis. Then the machine gun fired, as Kaelen Holt stepped up just 17 seconds later to dump a puck in from Guilderson and Heerspink. And, before Bruins fans had reseated themselves and Red Wing fans had their faces out of their palms, McChesney took a breakaway home for the third Estevan goal in 31 seconds.

In the rowdy locker room afterwards however, he noted that the win didn't come all easy peasy.

"We only dressed 11 forwards, then one got kicked out, so it was a little bit of adversity we had to fight through. A few guys had to double shift, so we just fought through and did what we needed to do."

Left Wing Hayden Guilderson was sent off the ice 14 minutes into the first frame for a game misconduct, after checking a Weyburn player from behind.

Head Coach and General Manager Chris Lewgood noted that the rapid fire succession of goals did some damage mentally to their opponents.

"When you start to pile on there with two or three in a short period of time, that's hard on young people, that's hard on their psyche, and we were able to take advantage there. I think that gives us a bit of a mental advantage going forward in the game."

Aigne McGeady-Bruce and Goberis both added tallies in the second period, and Arthur Miller tossed in another one a minute and a half into the third. Matt Lukacs stood tall in the net and blocked 34 of the shots fired at him. Only in the third frame did Weyburn's Cade Kowalski sneak a puck into the mesh, and not before Lukacs and every other black and gold jersey on the ice did all in their power to sweep it away.

Lewgood said later that he, "wasn't too worried about our offence. We've been good all year that way. But, it's good to get an early start on these guys, get some big saves from Mattie (Lukacs) early, and we were able to keep piling them on. It's good to get the two points, and I've got a feeling that if it was a one goal win or a five goal win, we're happy with two points, and that's the bottom line."

The rematch happens on Saturday night in Weyburn. That said, Estevan hasn't always had stellar success in round two of their home and homes.

"The team that loses the first one is always tougher on the second side, so we know we're going to have a battle there," Lewgood stated, adding that, nevertheless, they will go in with confidence to take on the Red Wings.

The puck drops at 7:30, and all the action can be heard on Rock 106, starting with the pregame show at 7:20.
