The Midget AA Estevan Bruins headed north over the weekend for tournament action in Prince Albert. They returned with a second place finish in the 'C' pool.

It got started with a 5-2 loss to Martensville followed by a 3-0 black by the Yorkton Terriers. They then picked up a 4-1 win over the PAC Saints and a tight 3-2 victory over Martensville, and closed things off with a 5-2 loss to Beardys in the C final.

"It was just a 10 team tournament, so you had to win your first game to get the A side, which we failed to do. After that game, I don't know if the guys were down a little it or what, but we came out flat in our second game against Yorkton, a team that we probably should beat. In our third and fourth games, I liked the way the guys bounced back. We played a short bench, with an injury or two, but we played well...and picked up a couple wins. Then in the C final there against Beardys, I think we were pretty gassed, playing with thirteen or fourteen skaters all weekend and five games in three days. We just came up a little flat in that last one," related Head Coach Riley Hengen.

On the positive side, he noted that they were up 2-0 late in the second game against Martensville, who then scored two quick late goals. In times past, it may have been the point at which they gave up, but this time they bounced back and scored late to win it.

The Bruins take a week's break before a triple header weekend on the 23rd, 24th and 25th.
