The Midget AA Bruins have wrapped up tryouts, and the black on gold game, over the weekend and now prepare to trim the roster throughout preseason.

"Overall, we were pretty happy with how things went. There was a couple ice times where we had a bit of a sluggish start, but I think you can just chalk it up to nervousness from the guys. I think once they got comfortable out there, they were buzzing pretty good. I think we've got a couple more moves to make here before we're finalized as a roster of 19, but the competition's been pretty good right now and the coaching staff has all been happy with what we've seen," shared Head Coach Riley Hengen.

While a couple names that had slipped under radar at first made an impression in camp, overall, he noted that the veterans worked like they had everything to prove.

"I think we're probably going to have some depth on our team. Our top six D core is looking pretty solid back there, and I think we're going to have four, pretty good lines. There's not too many weak spots up and down our line up. We've got a couple injuries here at the start of the season that have bit us, but if we can stay healthy going forward, then I like where we're sitting right now."

The Midget Bruins' first exhibition game takes place Monday night in Weyburn.
