The Estevan Mosquito Sluggers put out a strong performance over the weekend as they headed to White City, battling 16 other teams for the provincial title.

"They did really well. They won their division, then went into the semifinals against a strong team from Humboldt, and didn't quite make it through that game. But they played really hard and deserve everything they got," shared Head Coach Joe Williamson.

"They never gave up. We were down a few times, in the third game we played on Saturday that determined who moved on from our division, we were down going into the last inning and had a huge hit to walk the team off and put us into the semis on Sunday."

He noted that it's something that the young group has worked on all year, fighting through the adversity when the scoreboard is against you.

Four players move on from the Sluggers into Peewee next year, and Williamson also wished them the best as they take their playing to the next level.
