One of the oldest sports around, the origins of Lacrosse date back to the 1700's or even earlier. However, it still finds popularity with people in the 21st century.

In order to help encourage kid's participation in the sport around the Estevan area, a "Bring-A-Friend" day was held by the Estevan Box Lacrosse Club on January 21.

Marketing Director Kallie McConnell said attendance was high.

"The turn-out is much better than last year. We're super excited to see all these kids out and having fun."

She noted that they have received excellent response from residents of the region.

"It sounds like the community is pretty excited. With this turn-out we're hoping to have good numbers for registration, and a lot of fun this year."

She also expressed that they are excited to start the season.

McConell reveals that there is still a chance for kids who are interested in learning what it is all about.

Two more "Bring-A-Friend" events are planned for February 4th and 11th. Between 1:00 and 2:00 PM, ages 4-10 are welcome to experience the sport. Ages 11-16 can try their hand between 2:00 and 3:00.

These will take place in the multi-purpose room at the Estevan Leisure Center.

Registration night for the summer teams is on February 9th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Affinity Place lobby.
