White Butte diamonds seemed to have a special spot for teams from the southeast over the weekend, as the Estevan Peewee A Cubs went 4-0 to dominate the A side for the gold medal in the peewee tournament.

In the final, they went up against Carlyle and took a 15-5 victory, earning them the trophy for the event.

"The boys played, defensively, extremely well all weekend. And when we needed our bats, they came alive, including a grand slam in the third game," shared Head Coach Trevor Goetz.

The team's next tournament approaches at the beginning of July, before they take part in provincials.

Meanwhile, in the AA portion of the tournament, the Carnduff AA Astros came away as champs.
