Christmas may have come a little early for the Estevan Westmoreland Peewee Bruins, as they finished off the year with a 4-3 victory over the Weyburn Wings in Affinity Place.

"We'd talked in the dressing room about playing on the defensive side of the puck. Last time, against Swift Current, we allowed 16 goals in two games, so really kind of honed in on not allowing opportunities," shared a happy coach Kris Hollingshead.

"We actually set a target of only allowing three goals against Weyburn, and we did that exact thing. We hemmed them in to a goal a period, and I think that helped contribute to the win Thursday night."

Consistency was the name of the game, and will be so in the future for the Bruins as well.

"We capitalized on our scoring opportunities, and we probably played our best defensive game, which led to good offence. It was a huge confidence booster for the kids, as we beat the top place team in the league, and hopefully we can keep this momentum going heading into the new year," said Hollingshead.

The peewee Bruins currently sit in last place in the standings with a 3-12-0 record, however, their coach is optimistic that they can make up some ground in 2018.
