The Midget AA Estevan Power Tech Bear Cats continued their quest on the weekend to climb the South Sask Female Hockey League standings.

During a triple-header, the Bear Cats were able to pick up four of a possible six points with just four games left on their schedule.

On Friday night against the Moose Jaw Mavericks, Shaelyn Audette, Kayla Wanner and Marci Leblanc would give the Bear Cats a 3-0 lead after the first period.

In the second, the Mavericks and Bear Cats would exchange goals consecutively. Marci Leblanc would score short-handed for her second of the game with Brynn Kuntz adding the other.

Moose Jaw would explode out of the gate in the third period to score three straight goals and tie the game in the first five minutes. The Bear Cats would find a way to regain the lead in the third with Karleigh Mackenzie, Jasynn Montayne and Marci Leblanc rounding out the scoring with Leblanc getting her third of the game for the hat-trick. The Bear Cats were out-shot 42-38 in the 8-5 win, with goaltenders Devin Fayle and Myah Battersby splitting duties.

In the rematch on Saturday, Moose Jaw would open the scoring before the Bear Cats would find the back of the net three times in just over one minute to take a 3-1 lead into the second period.

Goals continued to be scored in bunches during the second period which would see Moose Jaw score three in eight minutes to grab the 4-3 lead.

Moose Jaw would add two in the third and Jasynn Montayne would cut into the lead, but that would be all from the CFB arena in Moose Jaw as the Bear Cats would fall 6-4.

The Bear Cats continued their road trip on Sunday with their final stop in Wilcox to play the Hounds.

In their fourth meeting of the season, the Bear Cats picked up a big two points by shutting out the Notre Dame Hounds, 4-0.

The girls now sit in fourth place with a record of 14-8-3, with three games remaining on the regular season.
