The Estevan Leisure Center became packed to the brim as the Swimming Provincials Started. July 28, 2018 marks the day that Estevan hosted the "Saskatchewan Summer Speed Swimming Provincials." "It's provincials, so both the north and south come together so yeah, I expected this many people. It's a really great way to bring together the swimming community," says Charlotte Andrist when asked if she expected the event to be packed. Charlotte was both a swimmer and a coach during the event.

One effect of the provincial's presence may be the influx of children wanting to join the Estevan Golden Eels. The Estevan Golden Eels is the swimming team of Estevan. One of its swimmers, Chris Sutter, coaches the 6-8 year in the team. When asked if he is expecting more children to join the team after the event he says, "I would like to think so." Adahdel Eeuw, another coach and swimmer says, "usually after provincials a couple kids join every year."

However, after all the races were done, the points were placed. The Estevan Golden Eels celebrated their fifth win in a row, winning the most amount of points. Not only that, there were many notable record-braking provincial times within the event. Taghen Hack completed the 50 Fly in only 31.87s. Alianna Young completed the 100 Breast with a time of 1:36.12s. Jordyn Tarnes does not hold back, breaking 3 provincial records. These are: 25 Fly at 16:23s, 50 Fly at 37:54s, and the 100 IM with a time of 1"26.95m The 200 Free Relay Team also broke the record at 2;35:84m, with swimmers Emily Sauder, Hailey Tangjerd, Alianna Young, and Jordyn Tarnes.
