The Midget AAA Southeast Twins opened their season against the Regina White Sox at Tom Laing Park in Weyburn on Tuesday night.

The conditions were less than ideal, but the players toughed their way through it on the way to a 14-4 loss.

"It was your typical rainy-muddy evening of baseball with an over excited coach wanting to continue playing," Twins Head Coach, Blaine Kovach said with a laugh. "Despite the loss, it's a lot of these guys first game in Midget AAA. It can be pretty exciting, there were a lot of nerves and you could tell."

The White Sox took advantage of the slick conditions as the away team, and never looked back on their way to a lopsided win.

"The pitchers that went out there did really well, I think we only gave up four or five hits. The bad conditions didn't make it any better for the pitchers causing all the walks," Kovach said of a rainy Tuesday night. "Our defense was fairly strong, there were a lot of positives."

Heading into the rest of the week, the Twins will shift their focus to one key aspect of the game as they prepare to welcome a duo of tough teams.

"We have to work on our batting, it's getting use to pitchers who throw much harder and better. Working on our two-strike approach to make sure we're battling and putting balls in play," he concluded.

On Saturday, the Twins will host the defending Provincial Champion, Saskatoon Cubs, before taking on the runner-up Red Sox from Muenster.
