When Sean Riley stepped into the role of Head Coach for the Estevan Apex Bruins, he knew he had some big shoes to fill following a season that saw the team finish in first place along with a trip to the league final. Now just two games into the season, the coach and his team are still in the feeling out process.

"So far there's been some nerves to start the season, not just from the players but from the coaching staff as well," said Head Coach Sean Riley. "We got started against a pretty good team in Yorkton, other than that the boys are working hard and we're all still learning about each other trying to get our systems down."

Last weekend the Bruins tied the Terriers 4-4 to open the season and followed that up with a 9-2 loss. Moving forward into this weekends games, the team is looking to fine tune what they need to do to become successful.

"We're making sure the boys know what the plan is for these two games and keeping them motivated with their heads up after last weekend, it was tiring. The boys are pumped and ready to go, the last two practices have been pretty positive on the team. With back to back games the guys still have to eat properly and stay hydrated just to keep the energy levels up along with their motivation. I know they're excited to get back on the ice and show everyone what they can do."

"There's a few things that I'm working through just to see how things play out, we have 12 rookies on the team and their effort level and their attitude is really good coming up from where ever they were before. I know that the Estevan Minor Hockey system is doing a great job at making sure these players are prepared and ready to go."

Riley and the TS&M Bruins will look to get in the win column with a home ice advantage this weekend with the Swift Current Abby Resources Broncos paying a visit on Friday and Saturday.
