The Saskatchewan Selects football program was back on the field in Moose Jaw last weekend as they prepare to head to the sixth annual International Pigskin Classic next month in San Antonio, TX.

They faced off with one of the teams that they’ll be going up against in Texas as the Manitoba Selects made the visit for exhibition games between the 12U and 14U teams. The 12U game ended in a tie of 7-7 while the 14U team won with a score of 35-21.

"It was a great new experience seeing another team from Canada, it kind of opened our eyes to what football is like in other places in Canada and not just Saskatchewan," explained Hunter Eagles.

Representing south east Saskacthewan is Parker Lavoie (O line)16U, Hunter Eagles (linebacker) 14U, James Knibbs (Defensive End) 14U, Hayden Borhot (Defensive Back) 12U, Chayton Fornwald (Defensive Back) 12U and Lucas Rooks (Wide Receiver/Slot Back) 12U.

"Other than playing football I'm looking forward to building relationships with coaches and players in Saskatchewan and even in Texas," said James Knibbs. "We're looking forward to finding out what football is all about down there."

The Sask Selects will continue practicing over the next two months before they travel down to San Antonio from Feb. 20-26.
