The Midget AA Southeast Goldwings are set to take part in one of the largest hockey tournaments and development camps in Canada.

Hayley Wickenheiser is widely regarded as perhaps the best female hockey player around, and she hosts an annual, two weekend hockey 'festival', a series of tournaments and training sessions. This year, the ninth edition of the event is held in Calgary, Alberta, November 15-18 and 22-25.

The Goldwings will join over 2,500 other female players from different levels

"We're going (the second weekend), and it's going to be some good hockey. We entered into the Elite division, so it's anybody but triple A, but a lot of the bigger centers have elite programs and hopefully we some really good games," shares Goldwings Head Coach Al Ohrt.

They've had a few days to practice and hone their skills prior to the tournament.

"Our power play is definitely better than what it was at the start, but we're still struggling to get out of our own end. On power play, girls hockey teams always force two girls to try to catch them off guard, that's one thing we've got to work on, and just getting out of our own end. That's the only time we really have any problems. Once we get across our blue line, it seems like that's when everybody's good."

The girls also entered a competition to win the best dressing room, submitting the story of the Goldwings' origins, in the combining of former rivals into teammates.
