The Southeast AAA Twins took one of the top teams of the league and dragged them past nine innings in Regina on Wednesday.

Facing the Wolfpack on the road, the Twins put in a strong effort but it wasn't quite enough.

"We just couldn't finish it off, which was unfortunate. We had two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning with a two run lead, and just couldn't hold it, just couldn't get those last few strikes and those last couple guys out. One hard hit ball and it just took a bad hop on the guy, and just couldn't make that final out," said Head Coach Blaine Kovach.

"All in all, we played well. Our starting pitcher was great. (Ty) Nikolejsin threw an awesome game for us and then Hudson Neuberger came in and did his job, he did what he could, and it just unfortunately didn't out the way we wanted in the end."

"The boys can see now that they can play with the top teams in the league. The way we've been playing lately, we've just gotten better and better and those types of games are going to happen. When you have a lead, you've just got to stick with it, especially against those top teams because...those guys are not going to roll over and die on us. You've got to go and finish the game off with that lead, and they learnt that last night. If you don't go and finish it, you don't come out with the win," he added.

The Twins get back in action on Saturday when they host the Saskatoon Diamondbacks in a doubleheader.
