It was a weekend of several firsts for Team Williamson, who curls out of the Estevan Curling Club.

It was their first spiel as a team with their new lineup, which includes two Estevan faces; it was their first spiel of the season; and it was the first spiel of the Sask Women's Curling Tour this year.

For the number of firsts, Williamson showed a strong level of compete, holding their own into the quarterfinals, which would be as far as that rock would slide.

"We didn't do too bad this weekend, especially for Leah (Moriarty), with our first time throwing this year...so to make it to the quarterfinals, even to make it to playoffs, is a huge bonus for us," shared Third Alexandra Meyer.

"We lost our first one on Friday night, then we won both on Saturday morning. We did well enough that we got into playoffs without having to play a tiebreaker. On Sunday morning we played Michelle Englot, and lost to her."

She added that they'll work on a few items such as communication, heading into their spiel in Regina October 12th-14th.
