It has been an extremely busy season so far this year at the Estevan Curling Club and the year will only get busier.

The club has a whole slate of events coming up, we asked Pauline Ziehl-Grimsrud with the club to fill us in on some of the upcoming events.

"We have a really busy February and March ahead of us. Starting Friday, February 8th and 9th we have the high school senior districts and that is girls, boys and mixed they have a full slate Friday and Saturday, and in the evenings were going to be hosting our first annual double-spiel on the 8th and 9th. Next week on the 15th of February to the 18th we will be having the inaugural U18 Mixed Doubles Provincial Championship for Curl Sask we have 20 teams coming to that event and we're really honored that Curl Sask would choose us to be the host location for their very first provincial event in this discipline."

The Curling Club doesn't just host big-name events there also very active when it comes to getting the community out on the ice, Pauline.

"We also have a lot of elementary and high school phys-ed classes coming in and our youth programs will be winding up here in February and of course we have our league play on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and that will continue well into March."

It's not just the people on the ice who are showing up for these events either there has been a strong showing in people stopping by to watch the events as well.

Pauline "We have certainly seen an uptake in the general public coming in watching and participating and wanting to learn more about the Curling Club and the game of Curling and I would have to say hosting the tankard this time last year really helped bring the profile and the level of Curling that is in our community out to the general public."

The Curling Club is thankful for all the support they have received from the community over the last little while.

Pauline. "We are very grateful for the support we have received from our members, the general public and of course our business community and the city of Estevan."

If Curling sounds like something you would enjoy the club is having a drop in Curling night on February 22nd at 7pm  the lounge will be open as well as all of the sheets, they will have club brooms and sliders for everyone to use, so no worries if you don't have your own they have you covered. It's a great opportunity for those that just want to throw rocks or watch and learn the game of Curling.
