Pauline Ziehl Grimsrude manager of the Estevan Curling Club goes over the past year in the Energy City. "The Estevan Curling Club has been very busy in 2018, we, of course, were the host of the Tankard. Which was the Saskatchewan Men's Curling Championship and that was over at Affinity Place and it was our first time leaving the facility in quite a few years. So it was exciting, it was a learning curve and we were really pleased with the support from the community. And also, of course, it was great to cheer on our own Brent Gedak Rink during the Tankard. It was exciting for us here at the curling club."

Grimsrude continues to share about the programs they run regularly throughout the season, "We had our regular spiels this year, the OTS, our youth, our corporate spiel, and then when we got into the fall, of course, we had the announcement in April that we were chosen for the site of the Canada Cup of curling. Which has just wound up. And we just can't say enough here at the curling club, the support received from city council to the businesses in town, to the city workers, the volunteers, to our membership at the curling club. It has been a phenomenally busy year for us."

Curling has continued to grow and with Estevan now on the National stage, Grimsrude adds, "Well, I would say this has been the busiest year that I've ever seen in the curling club, and I've been in town for about 25 years now. Yah it is very busy and very exciting we have a lot of new faces involved in the curling club and in the curling community.  The support was overwhelming even those who just enjoy watching curling and aren't curlers themselves. It is the busiest year I've ever seen, and you know as our curling season goes into the 2019 year. We're looking forward to a very busy January, February, March. We have a youth spiel, we have the U18 mixed doubles, that is the first one ever for CurlSask, we're going to be hosting that. We're also hosting the OTS, I believe it's our 60th anniversary for their bonspiel. And also mixed provincials are here at the Curling club, so we have a very busy new year in front of us too."

The Estevan Curling Club is looking forward to a busy 2019 as well, "The 2 provincials we will host for CurlSask will be held here at the Power Dodge Curling Centre."

"Well, we definitely seen an influx of youth come into the club, our youth programs have all grown this year. So we're very pleased with that, we have put out an invitation to the community to come to try curling or you just want to come and watch. Our doors are always open in any manner that you want to participate in the curling club, we'd be happy to have you."

Grimsrude is excited for the New Year, but with everything they have hosted this year. She expresses that the Curling Club and all of its volunteers could use a bit of a break. But they have been approached to host more events in the future. Keeping many options open for the next few years.
