A thunderous time was had at the Estevan Motor Speedway over the weekend, as full IMCA points events and then some took place.

A good sized crowd turned out to take in the Slingshot, Hobby Stock, IMCA Stock, IMCA Modifieds and Sprints that were competing on the dirt.

Friday saw only the points competitors on the track, in addition to the Slingshots. In that division it was young Bailey Cousins who took the win for the second time in a row at the EMS, after travelling from Morden, Manitoba.

"I really like the small track, it's a lot of fun to race with my buddies here," he stated, noting that his race saw a few bumps.

Bailey Cousins won the Slingshot division.

In the Hobby Stock feature on Friday night it was Riley Raynard from Lampman who ducked under the checkers in the first position. He took his victory in stride.

"Usually I just try to run my own race, and I took it this time. I couldn't ask for a better result."

Riley Raynard took the Hobby Stock feature.

The IMCA Stock race on Friday saw Gregg Mann of Estevan cross the finish line at the front of the pack. He appreciated how well maintained the surface was.

"Anybody can win on a track like this. You follow the leader and you can actually make passes."

"It can be a mental game. You really have to be thinking when you're out there, playing with a guy and making him think you are going to go low, then start shooting up high and cutting on him. Tonight had one of those tracks where you could do that," he added.

Mann explained that going low resulting in his losing time at each corner. He changed tactics and tried keeping on the high side.

"It worked really well, so I realized that this is where I need to be. You search for that spot, and I was lucky that I found it quick."

Gregg Mann came out in front in the IMCA Stock feature.

In Friday's IMCA Modifieds, Jett Big Eagle, hailing from Manor, came away with the victory. It turned out to be somewhat of a sibling rivalry.

"I got pretty nervous at about 12 laps to go when I saw my brother poke his nose in there. I just tried to stay concentrated, hit my marks and do the best that I could."

Jett Big Eagle won the IMCA Modifieds class.

The green flag dropped on another spectacular night of racing at the Estevan Motor Speedway on Saturday night. Part two of the Energy City Showdown saw spectators pack the stands on a perfect night for racing. Saskatchewan born drivers dominated the night, seeing all five feature winners hailing from the province.

In the Hobby Stock Feature, Devon Gonas of Midale drove away victorious for his second feature win of the year.
"This is my fifth night in the car and I managed to get my second feature win here. I'm pretty pumped about it," said the driver from Midale. "I ended up driving down low and getting passed by two guys on the top side there. I was content getting third, but they ended up spinning out. I'll definitely take the feature win."

Devon Gonas rode his way to the IMCA Hobby Stock Feature win.

On Friday night in the Modified Feature, it was Jett Big Eagle who walked away victorious. On Saturday, Jett's brother Masen cruised to a victory of his own as he came away with the feature win. It was a great weekend for the brothers from Manor.
"It feels unreal, its been over a year since I got one of these and it feels even better getting the win after my brother did on Friday. This weekend's probably been the best I have seen the track, the volunteers deserve a shout out. It was immaculate," he explained with enthusiasm.

Manor's Masen Big Eagle followed up his brothers feature victory from Friday night with a win of his own in the IMCA Modified Feature on Saturday.

The IMCA Stock Car Feature saw Estevan's Austin Daae pull away with the victory in his own backyard.
"There was multiple lanes, the first few laps were pretty dicey kind of going high-low, guys were swapping," Daae said of the track. "I found once I got up top in three and four it was really good. I saw Jake(Nelson) get his nose in down here a couple times and once I cleared him I went down there and didn't see him again. I got in a rhythm and just tried to stay as consistent as I could. You could set yourself up to try and make something happen out there, it was fun."

In the only Sprint Car races of the season at the Estevan Motor Speedway, Estevan's Kyle Fedyk pulled away with the Feature win in front of the home crowd.
"It's unreal, I started racing sprint cars in 2006. The only thing I've dreamed of other than racing professionally is to win at home. I got really close last year and it was just driver error. I came into tonight looking for redemption, and luckily we were good enough to get it."
"The track was phenomenal, this track prep crew does such an amazing job. All these guys who traveled from 10 hours away got to see it as well and hopefully it makes them want to come back and put on another great show for the fans."

Estevan's Kyle Fedyk came away with the win in the only Wind Sprint Car Feature of the season at the EMS.

Jesse Gibson from Estevan came away with a victory of his own in the Slingshot Feature. He was not available for comments or pictures following the night of races.
