The Southeast AAA Twins only won one of four games over the long weekend, but the lone victory went to show what the group could do.

On Saturday they took on the Regina Athletics, with the result of 10-6 and 8-7 losses. Taking a break for Canada Day, they went up against the league-topping Regina Wolfpack on Monday, and proceeded to stun them with a 7-0 shutout victory. However, that performance was left unmatched in the second game for a 8-7 decision against.

"Getting one win against the top team in the league, that's huge for us right now. In Saturday's games, it was just kind of the same situation it has been all season. A few errors here and there, and not getting those timely hits when we needed it. Holding the lead is the big thing right now, we're just not able to shut the other teams down when we get the lead," stated Head Coach Blaine Kovach.

"Sunday, a different story. We looked great the entire game, didn't make a single error, scored our base runners. We had a great pitching performance by Ty Nikolejsin on the mound, he did a great job and kept them off balance for the whole entire game, and we looked really good. And then it was a completely different story the second game. We just couldn't get those hits, we made a bunch of errors, and that cost us the ball game. If you make errors, you're going to lose, and if you don't score base runners then you're not going to get runs to make it close. But all in all, taking one win against the top team, that's a lot of motivation for the group. I think, going forward, there's a few games left and we can make that push to make the AAA provincials."

He added that it's just a matter of eliminating the unsatisfactory innings, and they'll have another chance to do just that on Saturday when they visit the Saskatoon Cubs, and Sunday in Swift Current against the 57's.
