The 2018 IIHF Under-18 World Hockey Championships came to a close for Team Canada on Thursday monring in Russia.

Estevan's Cole Fonstad and company were unable to get past the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals, after sweeping their four games in round-robin play. Despite not registering a point in Canada's round robin, Fonstad was able to get on the score sheet against Slovakia in pre-tournament action.

The next major step in Fonstad's summer will be the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, which gets underway on June 22 in Dallas, Texas.

Leading into the summer, Fonstad was ranked 65th among North American skaters, by the National Hockey Leagues Central Scouting Bureau.
