The Saskatchewan Hockey Association held their summer camp for the U16 SaskFirst squad earlier this month. The camp saw 40 players under the age of 16 invited out.

Of the 26 players selected, Estevan's Alex Von Specken was chosen to compete in the U16 West Challenge Cup in the fall.

At the beginning of May, Von Sprecken was taken by the Spokane Chiefs, 116th overall in the 6th round of the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft. The defenseman suited up for the Notre Dame Hounds Bantam prep program finishing his season with 3 assists and 42 penalty minutes in 30 games played.
