The Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association recognized the Estevan Minor Box Lacrosse organization this week, and featured one player from Estevan.

Representing Estevan, Nathan Wagstaff of the Peewee Estevan Voltz was chosen as player of the week. His play in the box this year has spoken for itself as he was also selected to play for Team Sask.

"He's calm and collected on the floor," shared Voltz Head Coach, Trevor McNabb. "He uses his size to get in the scoring lanes and his skill to capitalize on his scoring chances. I consider him a great team player."

"His dad use to play a bit of lacrosse so he looks up to his dad in that aspect."

The sport has grown substantially in Estevan since it was introduced in the region sixteen years ago, and outsiders are starting to take notice.

"It's a great honor for Nathan and Estevan Minor Lacrosse, our number one goal is to develop the kids and grow the sport. The sport has just ballooned around here and I'm very happy that Estevan has this association. I hope it continues to grow."

McNabb noted the play and success of the Saskatchewan Rush as a major influence on young lacrosse players across the province.

"They look up to them. A lot of the kids here, their parents have season tickets and they make the 4.5 hour drive to Saskatoon. It's a great thing for Saskatchewan, the Rush are the second professional sports team in the province, so it's nice to have them along with the Riders for the kids to look up to."
