Friday evening was full of Big Six Hockey League action, a triple header of games with plenty of activity.

The championship defending, and undefeated, Wawota Flyers paid a visit to Carlyle, facing off against the Cougars in a high scoring affair. Kent Sauter opened it up for the Flyers in the first period, nailing one past home netminder Tyler Ferenbach. Riley Riddell soon made it 2-0 for the visitors. However, it didn't last long, as Cooper Fox stepped up for the Cougars for the first of three for the night. The Flyers quickly responded, and were again counteracted by Fox to finish the period with a 3-2 edge.

Fox once again netted one for Carlyle, getting the second frame off to a quick tie. However, two more from the visiting team soon flipped the table, and despite a goal courtesy of Ben Johnstone, the Cougars were down 5-4 entering the third period.

Two more from Wawota and one from Carlyle sealed the deal, and the Flyers skated away with a 7-5 victory and unblemished record.

The Redvers Rockets and Arcola/Kisbey Combines went head to head on the latter's ice in a rather one sided conflict.

Kelsey Kenler kicked things off for the visitors in the first frame, and teammate Jarvis Dacharam quickly followed suit. When the two teams entered the locker room for the first intermission, Redvers had a 2-0 lead.

Corey Jones was the lone scorer in the second period, slamming one past Arcola's goaltender to give the Rockets a commanding 3-0 head start. The momentum carried through into the third frame when Craig Gaudet and Jordan Miller contributed to the lead. The home team finally nailed one in the third frame for the Combines to save them from a shutout.

Redvers would leave with a 5-1 win.

Last, but not least, the Midale Mustangs played host to the undefeated Carnduff Red Devils.

The visitors opened it up early with two goals in the first period, which were matched by only one from Carnduff. The second frame brought things to a tie after another netted puck courtesy of the Red Devils. However, Midale would score once more in the third to pull away for the win.

Carnduff left having suffered their first defeat of the season, falling 3-2.

Big Six action picks up where it left off on Saturday, when the Midale Mustangs visit the Wheat Kings in Yellow Grass, and the Carnduff Red Devils host the Arcola/Kisbey Combines. Both games start at 8:00 PM.
