After having their first game of the weekend cancelled, the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings would still play some hockey on Sunday, this time as they hosted the Oxbow Huskies for their second match of the season.

Last time these two teams met, the Huskies were down 5-1 in the third period and mounted a comeback to get back to within one, but they would fall short after an empty net goal from the Wheat Kings capped off the 6-4 win in Oxbow.

This time from Yellow Grass, it would start similar to the first game as the away team would start to scoring when Husky Klae Bayda put in his second of the year six minutes and twenty-four seconds in.

That would be the only lead the Huskies would hold for the game, but they would keep things close for the end of the period. Yellow Grass would get their first of the game halfway through the period off the stick of Tucker Neuberger, and Cole Rooney would add another one before the end of the period. 2-1 Yellow Grass after one.

The Wheat Kings were intent to impress their home crowd in the second period and they showed it only a minute and seventeen seconds in as Devon Johnson would pot his first of the game. This would be a start of an offensive tear for the Wheat Kings on their home ice. After that first goal from Johnson, another five goals would find their way into the Huskies' net, Shelby Gray would get two in a row, Justin Richter would get his name on the scoresheet, the second from Johnson, and finally the a final goal from Mike Onstad would all be added before the end of the period. 8-2 Yellow Grass after two.

At the start of the third period, the Huskies needed a spark to get back into the game, and 24 seconds they would get one from their leading scorer. Taysen Holt put one past Terrence Wildermann to make it a five goal game, but that would be as close as Oxbow would get.

Yellow Grass would score another seven goals in the period, only interrupted by Derek Cooney adding another one for the Huskies. In just the third period, Dustin Chartrand would score a hat trick, while Johnson would finish his own hat trick off. Neuberger would add his second of the game, while Brad Riege and Brendan Vertefeuille would also throw their names on the scoresheet to cap off the big win over Oxbow.

FINAL SCORE: 15-3 Yellow Grass

Despite the team's 1-3 record, Taysen Holt and Derek Cooney remaine near the top of the league in scoring. With his eight points, Cooney sits in a tie for 6th in points with a slough of people. Holt's 10 points put him in third in league scoring, placing him right Wheat King Mike Onstad.

Onstad only had two points in the big win over Oxbow, a goal and an assist on the first goal of the game. His five goals and seven assists in five games are good for 12 points and second in the league, only behind Ben Johnstone of the Carlyle Cougars.

The win puts the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings at 4-1, good for one point ahead of the Carlyle Cougars for first place in the league, while Oxbow drops to 1-3 and ninth in the league, only ahead of the Arcola/Kisbey Combines.

Next game in the Big Six is Wednesday, November 28th as the Oxbow Huskies try to regroup as they visit the Redvers Rockets.
