The Bantam AA Estevan TS&M Bruins opened up their first round playoff series on Tuesday night in Estevan with a 4-1 loss to the Weyburn Wings.

After a scoreless first period that saw the Wings outshoot the Bruins 14-7, Weyburn struck twice in the opening 1:28 of the second to take a 2-0 lead. Under six minutes later, Mason Fichter found the back of the net with Turner McMillen drawing the lone assist. Shortly after the Bruins took a tripping penatly, the Wings would capitalize on the power-play to go up 3-1, outshooting the Bruins 14-6 in the middle frame.

Mid-way through the third period Weyburn would extend their lead, and that would be all from Affinity Place as the Wings would take a 1-0 series lead on the Bruins.

Bruins goaltender Zane Winter stopped 36 of 40 shots in the loss. Estevan went 0 for 4 on the power-play, while Weyburn capitilized on 1 of their 7 chances with the man advantage.

Game two gets underway on Thursday night at 8:15 in Weyburn.
