The Saskatchewan Soccer Association held its provincial soccer league awards, and while most of the names were from big cities from around the province there was one local name that stood out. Erin Clark of Stoughton was nominated and received the Volunteer of the Year Award. Clark is the president of the Stoughton soccer club and the award came as a pleasant surprise. Clark,

"It was quite a surprise that my fellow peers nominated me, it was quite an honor and its a pretty amazing feeling all around to win this prestigious award."

Clark is proud of the hard work she puts in, since she started the club in 2015 the number of teams and players have expanded considerably.  Clark,

"Since 2015 we have grown to over 100 players ages ranging from 3 to 18. We have an average of 8 teams that go compete against other clubs. Then this year with the Stoughton Provincial School we started the first ever soccer team at the high school. We won regionals and won a bronze medal at provincials so that's what we have accomplished here with soccer in Stoughton."

Clark is hoping that the award helps with soccer recognition in the community.

Clark, "hopefully soccer keeps growing in this area and we look forward to great things to come, we have already put our registration online and were looking forward to playing some games and having a great season."
