Bienfait @ Yellow Grass Game 2, Bienfait leads 1-0

Coming into the game, the Coalers were the only team in the league with a winning record against the Wheat Kings, while Yellow Grass had not lost a single game at home all season long.

In the first period, almost half of the period would go by before a goal would find its way on to the board. On the powerplay, Wheat Kings sniper Shelby Gray would do exactly that after Mike Onstad would reach up and pick the puck clean out of the air, career it in, then shovel it back to Gray. He'd wind up and blast a shot from the point through traffic and over the blocker of Coaler's goalie Jackson Walliser.

Three minutes later, Reid Patterson would snag the puck at the side of the net in the Coalers zone, skate towards the net and fire a wrist shot towards the inside pad of Walliser, forcing him to kick out a rebound. Patterson then dove to slap the puck into the net to make it a two goal game on the solo effort.

With under five minutes in the third, the Wheat Kings would extend their lead thanks to a quick behind the net pass when Brendan Vertefeuille sent the puck out front for Troy Miller who would tap it home.

After the first, 3-0 Yellow Grass.

The second would start better for the Coalers in what was one of the weirdest periods of hockey you'll ever see. One play in particular saw Walliser knocked down and out of his net for an extended period of time before his team could clear it, and the exact same thing happened to Tanner Erickson in the Wheat Kings zone. As well, an odd sequence of chirps led to Hunter Piche to take a 10 minute misconduct on a play without his team receiving a minor.

The Coalers would score first, however, when Dallas Kickley sent a pass out front for Levi Kress, and Kress would hack at it twice before it went in through Erickson's legs to bring it back to within two. That would last all of 19 seconds as Troy Miller would break down the right side of the ice and rip a wrist shot over Walliser's glove for the momentum killer goal.

Before the period ended, Matt Bourassa would score on another similar hack at it play in front of the net, making a two goal game once more.

After two, 4-2 Yellow Grass.

In the third, the game would open up five minutes in for the Wheat Kings when Devin Cobbold would get a pass in front that he couldn't miss on, and a minute later Brendon Vertefeuille would score off the back of Walliser from a sharp angle to make it a four goal game.

The Coalers would fire everything they could manage at Erickson, but he shut things down and earned the first star of the night in the series tying win.

FINAL SCORE: Yellow Grass 6 - 2 Bienfait, Series tied at 1

Game three is also in Yellow Gras Thursday night.

Carnduff @ Redvers Game 3, series tied at 1-1

The Carnduff Red Devils and the Redvers Rockets come into the game with a tie series, both teams winning their game on the road with four goals in the game. In game one, Kenton Miller returned for the Redvers Rockets after dealing with an injury and did not manage a single point in his return, but in game two he exploded with offense. He had a hand in all four goals for Redvers, potting two himself and adding assists on the others.

As for Carnduff, the Red Devils have Trevor Geiger leading the team and the league in the playoffs with nine points coming into game three.

The Rockets looked to break the streak of away teams winning the games late in the first when Drew Hoff scored the game's first goal with just over five minutes left in the period, assists coming from Kevin Mann and Koltyn Miller.

Carnduff would use the limited time near the end of the period to even the game up once more when Brandon Trask potted one for the Red Devils.

After the first: 1-1

The second period is where both of these teams have seemed to explode on offense in some of their blowout games throughout the season, and that would be the case once more. Six minutes in, Carnduff decided to turn on the jets and Devon Carriere would score the go ahead goal, followed by three straight from the Red Devils.

On top of Carriere's 2-1 goal, the Red Devils would add one from Sheldon Thompson, Tanner Reynolds, and Nico Anderson in the span of ten minutes to go from an even score to a four goal lead.

Before the end of the period, Redvers would cut into the lead a bit. 2:41 on the clock and Koltyn Miller would get his second point of the night by firing a shot passed Cody Dumaine.

After two: 5-2 Carnduff

The third period would tighten up a bit but another even period would lead the Red Devils to the win. They would score the first of two goals in the third period thanks to the playoff leading Trevor Geiger.

Redvers would add one more before the second half of the period, Todd Gervais would add his fourth of the of the playoffs to soften the blow a bit, but still a loss for the Rockets on home ice.

FINAL SCORE: Carnduff 6 - 3 Redvers, Carnduff leads series 2-1

Neither team has been able to win a game on home ice as of yet in the series, but the Red Devils will have a chance to get the first home win of the series to take the series victory and redeem the loss in the finals against the Rockets last year.
