The Southeast A's have gotten off to a bit of a rough start this year going winless in their first five games.

With a young team that has nine first year players, this season will be some what of a learning process. Although the wins may not be pilling up for the A's, head coach Trent Dorrance believes in his team.

"That's just a factor of having nine first year players on the team never playing this caliber of ball before."

"On the scoreboard we've started off slow, but were getting more competitive every game," Dorrance said, "They've improved greatly since the first practice, every day has been getting better."

Heading into this season he wasn't quite sure what to expect. According to Dorrance, ending the season sitting at the .500 mark is the goal right now.

"Moving forward into the season it's about continually improving."

"Competing and winning provincials is the goal, as long as we keep improving like we are, that can happen," added Dorrance.

"They've adjusted very well to the speed of the pitching, base running and the overall speed of the play."

The A's will head into this weekend looking for that first win during a double header on Saturday against the Regina White Sox at 1:00 and 4:00.

On Sunday they'll take on the Regina Buffalo's in back to back games as well, with 1:00 and 4:00 start times.
