VALERIE HALL:

The tireless year-round contribution of dedicated women in Estevan and surrounding area has helped our city grow into the outstanding community that it is today.

And for the past 20 years, dozens of women have had the honour of being recognized for their selfless attitudes and hard work thanks to the Women of Today Awards, a ceremony held each April in Estevan.

Presented and hosted by the Quota International Club of Estevan, the Women of Today awards have helped shine the spotlight on women young and old for two decades. Past winners have now become significant members of the business community as well as dedicated volunteers for various organizations in southeast Saskatchewan. That legacy is what the leaders of the Women of Today awards say has had the greatest positive impact on the city of Estevan.

"It's a real honour for me to be a part of the Women of Today awards for the last 20 years," expresses Valerie Hall, Chairperson of the 2018 awards and President of the Quota International Club of Estevan. "I've seen a lot of great women come through as young students and are now giving back to our community and owning businesses themselves."

"It's incredibly rewarding to be a part of the community of Estevan."

The 2017 Winners (L to R): Christa Morhart, Robin Dowhanuik, Tia Dayman & Joyce Mack.

It includes the TS&M Outstanding Contribution to the Workplace Award, the Ida Petterson Memorial Award for Outstanding Entrepreneur, the Shirley Orsted Memorial Award for Outstanding Young Woman of Today, and the Southern Plains Co-op Outstanding Contribution to the Community Award.

"The awards a great way that we can honour the women here in our local community for their outstanding commitment," adds Hall. "In return, through this event, we give back our proceeds into the community for those who need it."
