The second annual Duck Derby turned out to be perfect, as support was garnered for the Estevan Humane Society and a lot of fun was had by all.

Participants who paid to have a number placed on a little rubber duck had a chance at winning several thousand dollars. The toys were dumped into the river at the Woodlawn Park and flowed with the current to the finish line. The Estevan Police helped stop traffic and the first one there was declared the winner.

The ducks were dumped from the bridge.

Society representative Angela Predde noted that this kind of event was to raise money for their much-needed building repairs.

"We're here at the Dog Park, for the 2nd Annual Judy Martin Memorial Duck Derby. Judy Martin was a huge supporter of the shelter, she was a manager there for many years. And she was just awesome for the Humane Society."

"Lots of money and the turnout for the event this year was just amazing. At the gate today selling ducks, we sold $1480.00, today." As for all those who helped out, "Mostly board member, we could always use more volunteers if anybody wants to help out next year we can use it for sure. We have some kids from the ECS here helping out. And the Estevan Fire and Police came down." she added.

The 'Lucky Duck' Rick Senchuck won $7905.00, fifty percent of the ticket sales, with the Humane Society getting the rest.

"It turned out to be a really great day," she described as hundreds of people enjoyed local eats from food trucks and bouncy castles for the kids.
