Over 40 people attend the Woodlawn Regional Park Annual General Meeting last week.

"The meeting went very well," shared Joanne Schulte, Parks Manager. "We discussed the projects we completed last year and discussed what we're doing this year. Some of those are the cancellation of Beach Bash but also introducing a Family Fun Day this summer on July 29th."

The park is also introducing a lottery as a means of raising funds as Beach Bash was a means of raising funds for the park.

"We're doing canoe and kayak rentals at both locations. We're going to be building washrooms on the beach at Boundary. We're also looking at some irrigation at Boundary as well. We're building gazebos at both the beach at Boundary and Rotary Park for wedding ceremonies, there has been a request for that. We're still looking at doing a fish filleting shack at Boundary as well as a hot water wash to prevent zebra mussels from coming into Boundary."

As well, there were a few concerns raised such as the rising cost of electricity.

"That is something that isn't just hitting the park, it's everywhere. But it definitely impacts the parks.

The board will review those concerns in the coming weeks.

Last year also saw the move of the gatehouse from the entrance to the road.

"That was a large project that consumed a lot of time. It was too congested where we had it. We still have some things to work out, it's a bit congested where it is too, but it's much better than it was before."

She went on the say that so far, their budget is looking good.

"It's very similar to last year. It's projected to have a small increase in revenue but overall, it's pretty much the same."
