Another Christmas holiday is in the history books for the Energy City and, according to the Estevan RCMP, this year's festive weekend was a pretty uneventful period of time.

"I'm happy to report that we actually had a fairly quiet Christmas, nothing out of the normal," shared Corporal Craig Park, "Some driving complaints and stuff, but overall, everybody seems to be doing good this year."

"We did have one impaired driver just before the holidays, but other than that, it's been pretty good."

With the cold temperatures, safety is on the mind of the RCMP, and Park had a few tips for people to keep in mind to avoid the unpleasantness of frostbite or hypothermia.

"For motorists, prepare and plan ahead. We are in an extreme cold right now, so if you do get stranded or have get out of your vehicle, make sure that you have the appropriate clothing there to be able to withstand it."

"Make sure your phones are charged up in case you need them. These days, when everybody's got cell phones, it's important that if you need to make a call, you have the power in your phone to do that," he added.
