Saturday afternoon saw the culmination of months of effort, study and hard work come to a head, as the 30 Wylie Mitchell Air Cadets in Estevan held their Annual Ceremonial Review.

The event featured the young people's, whose ages range from 12-18 years, best and sharpest performances on the parade square, as well as their effective speaking talents. Awards for everything ranging from Top Cadet to Best Dressed, and more, were handed out as well. While the day's Reviewing Officer was intended to be Estevan's Fire Chief, Dale Feser, family issues prevented his presence. Instead, Air Cadet League Director Rob Wilson was on hand to fill in.

"The afternoon went amazing. The cadets definitely showed off the drill skills that they had, and the award winners were proud and competent. It was a great afternoon," said the Commanding Officer, Captain Danielle Fleury, of the event.

CI (Civilian Instructor) Matthew Cinnamon, presents an attendance pin to his younger brother, LAC Jamin Cinnamon.

Among the items handed out was the Legion Medal of Excellence, and it was pinned on Flight Sergeant Cole McCaskill.

"It is given to a cadet who has gone to summer camp, displays good drill skills, is physically active in the squadron, and has really good attendance," explained Fleury.

She was also quite happy with the outcome of the year, which ran from September of 2017 till May 2018.

"We crammed a lot of things into one year. With the increased amount of staff, we're able to do more activities. We participated in biathlon, marksmanship, effective speaking and curling, all kinds of different things."

The cadets will attend a couple more training nights and activities in the month, before those selected for summer training opportunities will head off across the country and gain new experiences and friends.
