The Fire Station will be swarming with families as parents from all over the city make their way down to the station to pick out toys for their kids this Christmas.

Char Seeman and Shelley Dayman have been spearheading this years campaign and it has been successful to say the least.

“Any parents that have applied for a hamper.” Char continues, “They get the chance to come down and pick out their own toys for their kids. We don’t wrap them, the parents get to choose what they want for their kids. And they get stocking stuffers, pajamas thanks to the Kinettes and they get toques and mitts.”

With over 100 volunteers helping collect, set up and deliver toys to families in our community.

“Its been great we put the call out with (Discover Estevan) on Thursday and everybody pitched in and we got toys, money and since then there has been different companies in town, say if you drop off your gift we’ll give you an incentive.” Shelley Dayman says, “Its been good, all these different businesses in town have jumped up and said, hey we’ll help, this is what we’ll do.”

That support has also spilled over into the community in general.

“We’ve never, ever had this support from the community, the way it was this year.” adds Seeman, adding that the need this year has been greater and the numbers have gone up.

“The community is hurting, there is no doubt about it, and to do what they have done is terrific.”

The total as of Wednesday has reached 376 kids with the Angel Tree committee thankful to the community for it's generosity.
