The temperatures are warming up, and its a good thing with the Estevan Army Cadet Squadron heading out for Winter Training this weekend.

Sgt. Craig Bird, "Later this afternoon, we're going to get all the cadets rounded up and they're going to meet at the Legion. And we're going to hop on a bus to Camp Sask Cadet, which is just a little North of Calvington, Saskatchewan. We're going to spend the weekend doing some winter exercises, snowshoeing, building snow shelters, and setting up winter equipment."

"We've got a little over 30 kids in the Cadet core right now, but we'll see how many show up and want to go winter camping this weekend. The weather shouldn't be too bad, so I'm hoping anywhere between 15 and 20 cadets from Estevan."Sgt. Bird goes on to say, "We're actually meeting up with the Weyburn, Momart, and Regina cadet core. So we will probably have anywhere from 70 to 100 kids out this weekend to do this exercise."

"The weather is supposed to be half decent, so we will be able to get in quite a bit of training so the kids will be able to get out and do all of their learning a skill survival and go around using military equipment like snowshoes, arctic tents, and that sort of thing."
